Less washing and more steaming!
It is recommended to wash as little as possible
Sustainable fashion designer Stella McCartney told 'the Observer ' that she never washes or takes her suits to the dry cleaner, even adding that you should wash as little as possible. It happens so often that we throw our clothes in the laundry basket at the end of the day, when they are actually not dirty at all. Unfortunately not really a sustainable habit... And also very time consuming to have to get rid of several washes and the full ironing basket afterwards.
Research shows that frequent washing shortens the lifespan of your textile products. That has everything to do with soap, heat, lying around in the drum and contact with other clothes. The fibers of fabrics are affected, and fabrics become thinner and pilling, colors fade and clothes lose their shape.
But why do we all think this is necessary? The answer is simple: Smart marketing from detergent manufacturers. Mac Bishop, the founder of a clothing brand whose clothes you hardly need to wash, experienced it when he worked for Unilever's marketing team: “ The only way to grow a detergent brand is to make people think that they have to do a lot. wash . ”
Frequent ironing is also very bad for your textile products. Fibers are, as it were, crushed and in combination with the hot ironing plate, this causes faster wear. You give your most loved fabrics the long life they deserve by taking good care of them. Washing and ironing as little as possible prevents wear and color fading. Enjoy your most beautiful garments, bedding, tablecloths, decorative pillows, etc. for an extra long time.
Use a handheld steamer
We have long since learned not to do unnecessary laundry and to waste unnecessary time on ironing tasks. The STEAM'R is the ultimate invention for us. The specially designed pattern on the metal plate of the STEAM'R, in combination with the hot steam, ensures that the fibers of the textile are 'lifted' and are not affected. This process is comparable to the natural drying process in the (outdoor) air. As you can imagine, this is much less harsh (than, say, using a hot crushing iron) on the fibers of delicate fabrics. Using a handheld steamer is also super fast! Believe us, it is really a godsend for your busy life to always look well-groomed, fresh and without creased clothes in a very short time!
